Recorded by Calvin Johnson during a brief stop-over in Olympia in the midst of their U.S. tour, Sound Verite captures Make-Up at their most potent as both musicians and creators. All songs were made up on the spot; the band found a groove and singer Ian Svenonius took flight. The results: catastrophically terrific.

THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST LIVE ALBUMS EVER MADE. It was also my introduction to The Make Up. James Brown levels of badassness on display here. This entire thing just rocks, seethes, grooves, coos, and detonates, again and again..... Also understand, make up sometimes did studio albums, and sometimes made live albums of new material and released that. So if you like songs on here, these are the definitive versions. Brian Parker
